Natalie Smith is a Toronto based multidisciplinary artist. She is currently enrolled in the Performance Dance program at Ryerson University, expected to graduate in the year of 2021.

 

Natalie fell in love with the art of dance at the age of 3, and now, she is sharing her passion with young dancers as she has taught at various dance studios across the GTA. Natalie has experience teaching numerous styles including ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, modern, improve, hip hop and tap. 

 

Natalie has performed in numerous theatre shows over the years. Throughout her experience in the Performance Dance program at Ryerson University she has performed in three shows including, Enchoreo, Ryerson Dances and Choreographic Works. Natalie has also performed in Dance Ontario and The Next Step live tour. Her diversity as a performer has landed her dancing roles in various films and TV shows including The Next Step, Backstage, Backstage Studio Pass, A Nutcracker Christmas, In the Tall Grass, Breaking the Mold and A GATHERING premiered in Fall for Dance North The Flip Side. 

 

Natalie has developed a true passion for creating art over the past few years. She has a true creative eye. She choreographed her first work in her second year attending the Performance Dance program that was showcased in Enchoreo. This is just the beginning for Natalie in her choreographic journey.    

 

Throughout Natalie’s training, she has had the privilege of working with exceptional teachers and choreographers. At Ryerson University, Natalie has trained with Vicki St Denis, Tanya Evidente, Louis Laberge, Kate Hilliard, Robert Glumbek and Arsenio Andrade, just to name a few. Natalie has also trained with Roberto Campanella, Robert Glumbek, Alysa Pires and Johanna Bergfeldt at ProArteDanza summer intensive that she attended in the years of 2015, 2017 and 2019. Natalie has also trained with Kenny Pearl and Apolonia Velasquez at Kenny Pearl’s Emerging Artist Intensive.

 

Natalie is looking forward to continuing her dance journey. She has choreographic ideas to explore, movement qualities to learn, young dancers to teach and commercial jobs to audition for. Natalie is open and willing to take on opportunities that come her way.
